The second week

04 Mei 2015 | Zuid-Afrika, Pretoria

Tuesday: We went to a shoppingmall near our host families house. We looked around but there wasn't much to do on a Tuesday. There was a flee market but most of the little shops were closed and only opened in the weekends. The rest of the day we relaxed and played some games with the hosts kids.

Wednesday:This day we went to the Johannesburg zoo. In the zoo they had many endangered animals. We saw white lions, owls almost as big as us and many different other animals you also have in zoos in the Netherlands. We played around with the monkeys and had something to drink at the cafe in the zoo.

Thursday: In the morning we helped with some stockings at the company and went to the Cresta shopping mall again to get some souvenirs and a Cheeta (the rugby team) t-shirt for a friend of mine. (shoutout to Marcie) after we had lunch we went to the golf course and played around on the driving range.

Friday: we again had a rest day. we went to the soccer field to play some soccer with the kids. Our job is more looking after the kids than actually helping at the company.

Saturday: we went to acquaintances of my grandparent in the capital Pretoria. we had some coffee and went of into the city. We visited Kerksplein, The union buildings, Freedom park what actually shoukld be called anti-european park (i'll explain it later if anybody is interested), The voorttrekkers monument and to a mountain range i do not know the name of. We had our first beer in a long time which tasted really good (chastle beer). We had dinner at a really good steak house called The Steak-inn. We watched rugby at the house and went to bed.

Sunday: We slept in Pretoria and went to a little mining village where the largest diamond so far has been found. The mine where it was found in was enormous if i remember it correctly it was 1000 by 500 meter and 500 meters deep. We had breakfast and went back on the Gautrein to randburg.

Monday: again a relaxing day

    Erik:

    mvg, erik
